Critics slammed a Fox News host on Tuesday night who told viewers that Vice President Kamala Harris is in the White House due to a deal with Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders.
Jesse Watters, a frequent proponent of conspiracy theories, made the comment during "Jesse Watters Primetime," in which he slammed Harris' numbers among Black voters.
"How can Kamala Harris cobble together the Obama coalition if she can't even crack 5 percent with Black voters?" Watters said, referring to the 2020 Democratic primary. "Biden, Bernie, Liz Warren, Cory Booker — all did better with Blacks than Kamala Harris. And suddenly she's the next messiah?"
Watters then floated his theory of why Harris is really the vice president.
"The only reason she is in the White House is because of the DEI deal Biden cut with Bernie to seal the nomination," he said. "The only ones really pumped about Harris is the machine."
The internet blasted Watters over the remarks, with some likening it to racism.
"Just say the word, Jesse. We all know you want to," wrote @dvillella.
"They’re not even hiding the racism anymore are they," wrote @cocoburbank.
"Watters said DEI," wrote @ConservBlue2020. "Drink."
