Trump's GOTV chief apparently duped as he praises satirical 'Garbage Force One' routine
Far-right youth activist Charlie Kirk flubbed on Thursday, mistaking a liberal comedian for a garbage truck driver who helped former President Donald Trump carry out his latest campaign stunt in Wisconsin.
"This is fantastic!" wrote Kirk on X, posting a video. "This is the man who drove 'Garbage Force One' with President Trump yesterday. Watch as he gets emotional describing the moment with Trump and how he felt about Joe Biden calling conservatives 'garbage.'"
But the video Kirk shared was satirical, a comedy routine by Milwaukee comedian Brent Terhune intended to mock Trump. Kirk deleted his original post — but not before internet critics screenshotted it and poked fun at it.
Trump's appearance in a garbage truck, which received widespread mockery on social media, was meant to be a retort to President Joe Biden's comments in response to Puerto Rico being branded a "floating island of garbage" at Trump's rally in Madison Square Garden. In the video, Biden appeared to say that Trump's supporters were the real "garbage," although there is some debate over what he said over his stutter. The White House asserted he was going after the rhetoric used at Trump's rally, not Trump's supporters.

Kirk runs the group Turning Point USA, which has a history of racially-charged controversies and which, alongside tech billionaire Elon Musk's America PAC, is independently running most of the get-out-the-vote field operations the GOP has traditionally done in-house. Much like Musk's efforts, the TPUSA canvassing operation has been plagued with issues, including compromising voter privacy and potential violations of tax law.
This comes after Kirk came under fire for a furious tirade on the Megyn Kelly Show about the possibility of women voting differently from their husbands.
"It's so gross!" he said. "It's just so nauseating where this wife ... who comes in with her sweet husband who probably works his tail off to make sure that she can go and, you know, have a nice life, provides for the family. And then she lies to him, saying, 'Oh yeah I'm going to vote for Trump' and then she votes for Kamala Harris as her little secret in the voting booth."
