'First time that's happened': Black farmer leader blames Trump for 'humiliating' new low

Donald Trump has "betrayed" American farmers who voted for him, according to John Boyd Jr., president of the National Black Farmers Association.

Boyd appeared on MSNBC on Saturday, saying directly that, "The president of the United States sold out farmers."

"He sold us out to Argentina, to his friend," he added. "It's humiliating."

Noting that "farmers for the first time have become very outspoken on the president's leadership," he said, "Farmers are doing that bad."

"We are not doing great," he added, contradicting Trump's recent claim.

He continued:

"Farm foreclosures are up, farm suicides are up, farm bankruptcies are up, and all of this happened within the last 10 months of this president's leadership."

He added, "A whole lot of farmers voted for this president and they feel strongly betrayed."

Finally, he noted, "The actual soybean market is not moving."

"I had to stop harvesting my soybeans because the grain elevators are full and not accepting anymore soybeans," he said over the weekend. "That's the first time that's happened and I've been a farmer in this country for 42 years."
