The same and more of the same to come

It’s been raining too frequently for me to get a picture from the RealSurf crows nest, but the shot above captured by the Goat himself of yesterday afternoon at Freshie is still a reasonable approximation of the conditions. We had 54mm of rain at RS HQ yesterday and around dinner time my phone pipped with news from Sydney Water that the Warriewood treatment plant was releasing partially treated effluent into the ocean. Pollution is either possible or likely at all of Sydney’ surf beaches.

As of 0800 the wind was westerly (it’ll swing southerly then SE soon) and swell at sea offshore of Botany Bay was 2.4 metres at 9 seconds from 182° (ie, dead south).

The GFS swell model is showing wave prospects staying about the same (ie waist to head plus on bombs at south magnets) for another week. Of course they’re also showing showery to rainy weather across the period with lots of southerly to SE wind too.

Stay safe, avoid polluted water and hang in there. This too will pass.
