RT ACADEMY LAUNCHES CHINESE-LANGUAGE TRAINING COURSE FOR JOURNALISTS
MOSCOW, OCTOBER 9, 2024 — RT Academy, RT’s international educational project, is launching its first Chinese-language media course for journalists. The online course, which is free of charge, will commence on November 5, with applications now open on the RT Academy website.
“My children speak Chinese, so I appreciate the complexity of the language. I hope that the knowledge and skills that we will share with you will be useful in your future work,” said Margarita Simonyan, RT’s Editor-in-Chief.
The International Journalism course, which begins on November 5, 2024, will cover essential topics such as live broadcasting, content verification and combating fake news, filming and post-production, cross-cultural communication, social media strategies for news reporting and managing social media presence on Chinese platforms.
“Part of the program was developed by our Chinese specialists, who share deep knowledge about the specifics of working with Chinese social media platforms. Over the past few years, the RT China editorial team has accumulated a wealth of experience in this field, and we are glad to pass it on to our students,” said Vsevolod Pulya, head of RT China.
RT correspondents, anchors, producers and other media experts will lead master classes, sharing their expertise with both seasoned journalists and those just starting out in the profession.
Participants will gain insights into the full news production process, learn how to present effectively on-camera, conduct successful interviews, engage audiences on social media and produce high-quality video content.
Journalists and bloggers fluent in Chinese, as well as Chinese-speaking students and media professionals, are invited to participate. Applications can be submitted on the RT Academy website.
This initiative is backed by Russia’s Rossotrudnichestvo Agency, which supports cultural exchange.
In September 2024 RT Academy opened enrollment for its first educational course for journalists from African countries, receiving over 1,500 applications.
Launched in February 2024, the RT Academy international educational project initially focused on journalists from ASEAN and South Asian countries. Nearly 300 students have already completed the course, with many securing internships at RT’s regional bureaus.
RT established its educational program for aspiring journalists and bloggers – RT School – in Moscow in 2016. Today, it offers in-person courses for media enthusiasts, while its project RT School Online provides specialized Russian-language training and webinars accessible globally. RT Academy serves as the international educational project offering courses in foreign languages. Since its founding, over 2,000 individuals from more than 20 countries have been trained through RT School’s competitive programs, with many graduates joining the RT team.
