Ricky & Morty Season 5 Premiere Introducing Rick’s Nemesis Is Free Online
Adult Swim has released the season 5 premiere of Rick and Morty for free on YouTube, which introduces one of the mad scientist's key nemeses. The animated series centers on the titular mad scientist as he enlists his grandson to join him on dangerous adventures throughout alternate timelines. Originating as a short parody of Back to the Future, the series hails from co-creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, the former of whom also stars as the titular duo.
The animated comedy has been one of Adult Swim's biggest hits across its eight-year run and amassed a large cult following. It also became one of the network's few shows to earn Emmy nominations after Seth Green's Robot Chicken and the first to actually win awards for season 3's "Pickle Rick" and season 4's "The Vat of Acid Episode." After over a year of waiting for the next batch of episodes from its 70-episode renewal, Rick and Morty is back and Adult Swim has a surprise for fans.
On the heels of its premiere on the network, Adult Swim has shared the season 5 premiere, "Mort Dinner Rick Andre," for free on YouTube. The episode sees Rick forced to deal with his nemesis, king of the ocean Mr. Nimbus, while Morty attempts to reconnect with Jessica and a Narnia-like universe. Check out the episode below:
It's not entirely unheard of for a network to debut a full episode of a show on YouTube, though it is a bit of a rarity for one as far in its run as Rick and Morty to get this treatment. That being said, it should come as a happy treat for fans of the mind-bending series who may have missed the season premiere and don't have any other means of watching it while away from their home. With many returning to work outside of their houses, releasing the season 5 premiere online allows viewers the opportunity to catch up on the show while commuting to work or even while on a break with their smart phones or other device.
More than allowing fans to stay caught up on the series, releasing Rick and Morty's season 5 premiere online also allows viewers to see the uncensored version of the episode in all of its hilarious glory.
