Grace And Frankie: How Every Major Arc Ends In The Final Season
While Grace and Frankie has officially come to an end, the story is just beginning for the main characters on the long-running Netflix sitcom.
Grace and Frankie were soulmates after all. After seven hilarious seasons, Grace and Frankie has finally met its end. As Netflix's longest-running original series, the show shed light on two mature female characters who were both approaching 80 years old when the show began. Meanwhile, the premise of "starting over" at this age was explored in a way that made it relatable and fun.
Beyond the title characters, however, the show also focused on other main characters, including their respective ex-husbands Robert and Sol, and their kids Brianna, Mallory, Bud, and Coyote. The final episodes nicely wrapped up the stories for each of them, though for some, questions still remain about the future.
9 Nick Writes A Tell-All Book

It was obvious that Grace and Nick, who eloped and got married on a whim, would never make it for the long-haul. But it had nothing to do with the almost 30-year age difference between them. While Nick fell head over heels with Grace, his legal issues along with her desire to stay living with Frankie just made a marriage impossible.
While he took the break-up in stride, Nick also wrote a book that included a chapter about Grace. He ended it in a way that she found insulting, but Grace later discovered that he meant it in a positive way. He changed the wording to reflect the beauty of their partnership, marking a sweet ending to her most serious relationship.
8 Robert And Sol Deal With Robert's Memory Loss

It was a sad but also bittersweet ending for Robert and Sol, whose characters represent one way Grace and Frankie broke boundaries. It was becoming clearer that Robert was losing his memory, and it was getting worse. While there was no official diagnosis, Robert finally came to accept what was happening to him and agreed to get tests done.
Sol showed how deeply he loved his husband by stepping into action immediately to help Robert, and even cover up how bad his situation was getting from his family and fellow theater actors. Taking Robert back to the moment they took their first steps towards love was a sweet way to help jog Robert's memory before it was gone.
7 Brianna And Barry Break Up

Brianna and Barry had a sweet relationship, with Barry dating his once boss who many believed was out of his league. But even so, fans couldn't help but recognize that they were not right for one another. Barry seemed to be making one too many compromises to please Brianna while she wasn't doing the same.
He finally realized this when he had to hide the time he spent with his biological daughter from her. While Brianna was clearly torn up about the loss, Barry was doing wonderfully. But it also gave Brianna the chance to truly start over in every aspect of her life.
6 Mallory And Brianna Band Together

It's no surprise that there are times fans both couldn't stand and loved the kids on Grace and Frankie. Mallory and Brianna were always at odds with one another. But by the end, they not only had some tender and sweet moments together, but Brianna showed for the first time that she would go to bat for her sister and spare Mallory's feelings.
The two leaving the Say Grace office together, talking about the possibility of starting their own business, gave fans hope of a better relationship between the two. It also presented the opportunity for the two daughters to start a legacy of their own versus living in their mother's shadow.
5 Coyote Gets Married

Fans wanted a happy ending for Coyote, and while he almost risked his sobriety, but didn't go through with it thanks to an interruption by his mother and Grace. He showed tremendous strength and, even during a time of difficulty in his life, he didn't falter.
Fans loved the scene where he and Jessica decided to get married on their own, away from their respective families. With the house and wife of his dreams, things were looking up for the character who had a wild ride through the show.
4 Bud Decides To Quit His Job

Bud had never expressed a dislike for being a divorce lawyer, but it became clear in the final season that he only took over the business to appease his father. In the end, he really didn't like what he did, even if he was good at it.
Finally gaining support from his wife and his mother, it was implied that Bud was going to make a huge life change and quit the firm to pursue his own thing. It was clear that the personal and moral toll representing people in divorces was taking on him was not worth it.
3 They All Come To Terms With Their Limitations

With Robert – one of the most intelligent characters on Grace and Frankie - recognizing that he could no longer do theater productions and Frankie realizing she could no longer paint without assistance, there were plenty of eye-opening moments for each character.
Grace, meanwhile, understood that while she believed she was always the brains and most important part of the companies they started, she couldn't do it without Frankie. Meanwhile, Brianna finally recognized that being selfless is sometimes worth it.
2 Bud Pursues His Dream Of Comedy

Bud not only decided to quit his career at the law firm, he also decided to take a leap of faith and pursue his passion for stand-up comedy. As it turned out, he was very good at it. While he did this in secret with no one knowing but his brother Coyote, the truth finally came out.
Bud was always the joker of the family, so it made sense that he might want to spend his life doing something more light-hearted than dealing with divorce proceedings day after day.
1 Grace And Frankie Have Each Other

The theme of the entire show was two very different women coming together to support one another in their time of need. And as the ending proved, despite all the dating and extracurricular activities, all they really needed was each other. Sure, there are times when Grace and Frankie probably should have gone to jail. But hijinks and all, they were a perfect pairing.
Through a near-death experience and a cameo from Dolly Parton, they realized they did not want to live without one another. They enjoyed each other's company, even if they got on one another's nerves. The bond had grown so deeply between them that it was heartwarming to see.
