Shiloh Jolie’s Jaw-Dropping Newspaper Ad Proves She’s Done With Dad Brad Pitt
Shiloh Jolie is getting closer and closer to being farther and farther away from dad Brad Pitt, and it seems that’s just the way she wants it. In May, when Shiloh turned 18, her first move as a legal adult was to file a petition to have her name officially changed from “Shiloh Jolie-Pitt” to “Shiloh Jolie,” cementing the father-daughter rift.
And it’s even clearer now that this wasn’t a move she made on a whim since Shiloh just took out a newspaper ad declaring the proposed name.
Yup! Several media outlets are reporting that the teenager took out an ad in The Los Angeles Times stating her intentions. And though the exact placement and wording of the ad have yet to be revealed, it’s not quite what you might be thinking.
With such an estranged relationship, and given all the public bad-mouthing of Pitt from her 20-year-old brother Pax, you might think Shiloh took out a full spread demonizing her dad. Instead, it sounds like it was a necessary move rather than a nefarious one.
Per TMZ, this is par for the course. In order for the courts to approve her petition, Shiloh needs to give the public a chance to object. The outlet says that anyone with such objections must appear in court later this month. And, per People, the ad is likely in the legal notice section of the paper.
We have to wonder who paid for the ad. Despite what naysayers think, our money is on Shiloh. In June, insiders claimed that the teen hired and paid for a lawyer for this process herself, silencing those who suggested it was merely a ploy orchestrated by Jolie who is still engulfed in a messy divorce from Pitt.
The Maleficent star filed for divorce in 2016, claiming that Pitt had been abusive to her and their six children, Shiloh, Pax, Maddox, Zahara, Vivienne, and Knox. Shiloh is not the only one of her siblings to make efforts to change her name — though she is the first to do so legally. Both Zahara and Vivienne have dropped “Pitt.”
Given the latest reports, it seems that by next month, we should know if things are finally official for Shiloh.
