Paris Hilton Sparks Backlash After Fans Noticed One Thing in Her New Video of Baby Phoenix
Paris Hilton is used to public scrutiny, and now that she’s a mom, the attention is often turned toward her kids. She just shared an adorable new video of her baby Phoenix, 19 months, and the backlash was swift. Concerned fans noticed one thing about the video, and they weren’t afraid to speak their minds.
It started with a video The Simple Life alum shared on TikTok this week of her son hanging out on a boat. “Explore the Sunreef catamaran with Phoenix! ????????️✨” she wrote over the video, featuring Phoenix on the boat. He’s in total vacation mode in a maroon button-down shirt and matching shorts. The barefoot cutie toddles around the moving boat, walking on netting that shows the water flowing underneath.
Phoenix is a kid on a mission, wandering around the catamaran and even saying “mama” at one point with his cute little voice. “Watching Phoenix explore the world has been so special to me! ????✨ I am so grateful to be a #SlivingMom ????✨” Hilton captioned the video.
At several moments in the short clip, all that’s separating Phoenix from the water below is the netting he walks on and a flimsy rope bridge on the sides. Fans were concerned about the little guy, as he wasn’t wearing a life jacket.
“Momma, please have him wear a life jacket always on a boat!! Stuff happens. That’s why they’re called accidents. With love ????” one person wrote. Another said, “I know my heart was dropping in my stomach the whole time. Watching this. He’s a blessed little boy for sure.”
“My anxiety not seeing him in a life jacket! Can never be too safe on the water!” someone else said. Another said, “He is so adorable. ???? Please please have a life jacket on him, they run off so fast, and the edges are open to the water. I say it bc I truly care. ❤️❤️❤️”
While most of the time, we don’t love people picking on other moms or telling them how to parent, but in this case, the commenters may have a point. Even kids who are strong swimmers can get sucked in an undercurrent or struggle in deep water, which is why it’s important to always put them in lifejackets. In fact, there are laws on kids and lifejackets, many of which require kids ages 12 and under to wear one at all times (check your state HERE.)
We also love how gentle and kind people were with their corrections. No mom knows everything, and no mom is perfect — if you do decide to point out a safety issue, it’s important to always do so kindly.
And Hilton responds well to the nice, genuine comments. Like earlier this year, when she shared a video of Phoenix and her daughter London, 9 months, who she shares with husband Carter Reum, sitting in their car seats, which were facing forward. They reminded her that the law says babies should be rear-facing for at least two years and shouldn’t have the seatbelt buckled over the regular straps. The “Stars Are Blind” singer apparently took those moments to heart because she shared another video where the kids were facing backward and only strapped in with the car seat’s 5-point harness.
“Thanks for the mom advice, I’m new to this☺️,” she captioned the video.
So far, she hasn’t addressed the lifejacket comments, but knowing how much Hilton loves her kids, we know she would not knowingly do anything to put her kids in danger. You can tell how much she loves them by how joyful these babies are in every video, and it truly warms our hearts.
