Record number of people in orbit around Earth, NASA reports
The new record was established following the launch of the "Soyuz MS-26" spacecraft on Wednesday evening from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The spacecraft carried two Russian cosmonauts and one American astronaut to the International Space Station (ISS).

"There are now 19 humans in orbit—a new record for humanity," stated NASA.
The previous record, achieved in May 2023, saw a total of 17 people aboard the ISS and the Chinese space station "Tiangong" for a brief period.
