10 people died in plane crash in popular tourist town

Tengrinews.kz - A small plane crashed in a popular tourist city in Brazil, killing all 10 people on board. According to the Civil Defense Agency, more than ten people on the ground were also injured when the aircraft fell in the center of Gramado on December 22, as reported by news.sky.com.

On its X page, the agency stated that the plane crashed into the chimney of a residential building, then broke through the second floor of the building and collided with a mobile phone store in the residential area of Gramado.

The governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, confirmed that the owner and pilot of the plane, Luiz Claudio Galeazzi, as well as the nine passengers, who were relatives of the owner, died on the spot.

According to the latest reports, 17 people on the ground were injured, 12 of them remain in the hospital, and two are in critical condition.

It is also reported that the twin-engine Piper PA-42-1000 plane took off from Canela airport around 9 a.m. local time and was headed to Jundiai, Sao Paulo, despite unfavorable weather conditions. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.

Gramado, located in the Serra Gaucha mountains, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Rio Grande do Sul.
