Denmark to spend billions to defend Greenland after Trump's statement
Tengrinews.kz – The Danish government has announced that it will spend billions on defense in the Arctic after US President-elect Donald Trump announced plans to seize Greenland, according to Jyllands-posten.dk.
Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen has unveiled a plan to invest billions in defense. He announced that he would increase the number of drones, new ships, and sled patrols in Greenland.
"It's irony of fate that it coincides with the message from the US," the defense minister said.
According to the New York Post, Denmark will allocate $1.5 billion to defend Greenland.
"We have not invested enough in the Arctic for many years, now we are planning a stronger presence," the Danish defense minister added.
Recall: On December 23, Trump stated on his Truth Social account that it is "absolute necessity" for the United States to own Greenland in order to "purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World."
