“Up to 1 million tenge per foreigner:“ Illegal migration business thrived in Astana
Tengrinews.kz - Residents of Astana have been convicted for organizing illegal migration through the use of counterfeit documents, according to the city's prosecutor's office.
Two individuals developed a criminal scheme to facilitate the illegal acquisition of residence permits and citizenship for 49 foreigners from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, and Russia.
"One of them forged marriage certificates, medical records, and other documents, while the other found clients and connected them with the first individual. As a result of their criminal activities, they earned between 80,000 and 1 million tenge per foreigner," said the Astana prosecutor's office.
The prosecutor presented evidence of the defendants' guilt in court. They were sentenced to 1 year and 6 months, and 2 years of imprisonment. The illegally obtained funds, totaling 107,000 dollars, 2.5 million tenge, and 200,000 rubles, were confiscated by the state. The verdict has come into legal force.
