Switching to gas because of expensive gasoline? Opinion of the Minister of Energy

Tengrinews.kz - The head of the Ministry of Energy Almassadam Satkaliyev answered the question of whether motorists in Kazakhstan should switch to gas because of expensive gasoline.
The head of the Ministry of Energy admitted that the domestic market is provided only thanks to agreements with oil companies.

"Indeed, there are problems with liquefied gas, it is in short supply. The entire domestic market, which we cover only through our agreements with Tengizchevroil. In addition to our (gas - ed.), we receive about 10 thousand tons for the domestic market. That is, if there is none, then motorists will be forced to drive on other fuel. But we have done everything possible to provide it. But if consumption increases, then we will not import additional volumes. Moreover, we plan to reduce the volumes of receipt from the domestic market in connection with the launch of petrochemical plants," Satkaliyev said at a briefing at the ministry.

In this regard, the minister does not recommend motorists to switch their vehicles to gas due to the increased price of gasoline.

"I have also spoken about this many times, so for those motorists who want to switch to liquefied gas, there will be extra costs. That is, in any case, the price of liquefied petroleum gas will grow proportionally to the cost of oil products, and the amount of its supply to the domestic market will be limited, and perhaps even decrease. It is necessary to use the design fuel, in order to avoid possible accidents when using dangerous fuel in the form of liquefied gas," the official added.

Earlier it became known that state regulation of gasoline prices was abolished in Kazakhstan.
