Are there Kazakh citizens in migrant camps at US border?
Tengrinews.kz - Deputy Foreign Minister Yermukhambet Konuspayev was asked whether there are Kazakh citizens in illegal migrant camps located at the US border.
Journalists posed this question in the Mazhilis, and the representative of Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry stated that the ministry has information about the number of Kazakh citizens residing illegally in the US.
"There are no citizens of Kazakhstan in the camps. Recently, our embassy announced that measures are being planned concerning citizens who are illegally on the territory of this country. Accordingly, there was an invitation to resolve this issue. I don’t recall the statistics on how many citizens are in an illegal situation, but warnings have already been sent to all of them," Konuspayev said.
Konuspayev also noted that Kazakhstan’s embassy in Washington and other consular institutions continuously keep track of citizens residing in the US.
Earlier, Kazakhstan’s embassy in the US made a statement regarding the tightening of US migration policy, which aims to strengthen border security and reduce illegal migration. More details about the new measures can be found here.
