Pavlodar Airport to be closed for flights
Tengrinews.kz - Pavlodar Airport will be closed for reconstruction from April 1 to November 1, 2025, according to Pavlodar-online.
The decision to close the airport was made at a staff meeting in the regional akimat (local government administration). Akim Asain Bayhanov scolded his subordinates for not informing the population about the reconstruction dates in time.
A major overhaul is planned at Pavlodar Airport. The runway is planned to be reconstructed and expanded. Without reconstruction in 2026, the airport will not be able to receive an airworthiness certificate and accept flights.
Pavlodar residents were promised completion of the repair of the runway by late autumn 2024. However, the deadlines were changed due to lengthy competitive procedures for selecting a contractor. All this ended with the signing of a mediation agreement.
It was decided to carry out the main reconstruction work in 2025. In 2025, the reconstruction will also be carried out in the airport building. According to the head of the region, the building will be expanded - an extension will appear, escalators will be installed inside.
