Security algorithms to be revised after hostage taking at Almaty airport
Tengrinews.kz - Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Sanzhar Adilov commented on the work of the security service at Almaty airport during the hostage taking.
"In 2009, there were certain changes - if earlier security was assigned to the transport police unit, now, after legislative changes, security has been assigned to the airport aviation security service," Adilov said on the sidelines of the Mazhilis.
According to him, many legislative amendments adopted earlier will be revised.
"And based on the results of both the investigation of the criminal case and the inspection, a submission will be made in accordance with Article 200 of the Criminal Procedure Code, and we will raise the issue of revising the current algorithms. Working groups have now been created, inspections have begun, and based on the results of the inspections, we will report on the measures taken, and if there are any shortcomings, we will bring them to the public," the deputy minister added.
On March 7, Kazakhstanis were shocked by the news that a man armed with a kitchen knife took an employee of the Almaty airport hostage. The MAA aviation security service officers asked the man to show his documents, and in response, he grabbed the employee by the hair and began to threaten her with a knife. In the end, the hostage was saved by a man who came to see his relatives off.
