“I’m going to tell you the truth: she took gummies.”
For some reason, Howie Mandel has spent the last 24 hour-news cycle talking about his wife Terry’s recent party foul in Vegas. While appearing on Live With Kelly and Mark Monday, the comedian recounted an episode in which he and his partner of over 40 years were enjoying themselves a little too much in Sin City. After getting sufficiently “tipsy,” Terry apparently woke up in the middle of the night, tripped and fell onto the wainscoting, and broke her cheek. There was, according to Mandel, “blood everywhere” from an additional gash in his wife’s forehead, and she had to be rushed to the hospital. But after viewers expressed concern that the 68-year-old might have a drinking problem, per TMZ, Mandel signed right back on television Tuesday to correct the record. The culprit? Not booze, but edibles.
“She was so worried that people were going to intervene with her alcohol — she doesn’t have an alcohol problem,” Mandel told TMZ Live. “I’m going to tell you the truth: she took gummies.”
Thank god! Just a classic tale of boomers not knowing how to handle their extra-curriculars. Mandel clarified that Terry has been “doing well” since she was taken to the hospital after the accident and looks “absolutely perfect” without a single scar. That’s great! But I’d still like Howie to explain why, of all the stories a professional comedian must have in his back pocket, he chose this gruesome anecdote about his wife’s skull poking out of her head. And then — the cherry on top — showed multiple zoomed in photos of her injuries. Howie, why???
