For Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, the tabloid reports swirling with divorce rumors have been unrelenting as of late. What started with anonymous tips has now devolved into almost daily updates from somewhat more reputable gossip purveyors, and the evidence is devastating for me personally and for all of us collectively. As we know from the last month of wreckage, Affleck has reportedly moved out of the couple’s $60 million mansion, which is also said to be up for sale. J.Lo canceled her entire “This Is Me…Live” greatest hits tour “to be with her children, family and close friends.” And the singer was recently seen on a girl’s trip in Italy (which, if you’ve ever been dumped, divorced, or cheated on, can be quite healing!), having left Sad Affleck behind. All of that to say things were already not looking good. Now, “Page Six” is back with a new report that makes things appear even worse. Sigh.
On Monday night, the outlet cited sources who claim that not only is the marriage of the early-aughts revival couple over, but that it has reportedly been “over for months.” The unnamed sources said that Benniver has actually been apart since March, but Affleck is “very protective of Jennifer,” which is why he’s been trying to present a “united front” as they figure things out. (Representatives for both Lopez and Affleck did not respond to “Page Six”’s requests for comment.)
While things looked to be headed in the Resting Ben Face direction, that the former lovebirds have been separated for months is a sobering claim. I hate to admit that all of the pieces add up, but that doesn’t make me any more willing to accept what seems to be reality. I’m holding onto my Dunkin’ — and my Bennifer — for dear life.
