JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes Are Still Going Strong
Lest you forgot, former child star JoJo Siwa and Love Island U.K. alum Chris Hughes are still an item. Not only are the couple going strong, but they recently unlocked a new level in the celebrity-relationship hierarchy: Red Carpet Official. On Tuesday night, Siwa and Hughes attended the gala for Dancers Against Cancer, a nonprofit dedicated to providing financial assistance and resources to dancers impacted by the disease.
Earlier in the day, Hughes surprised his 22-year-old girlfriend with the news that she’d be receiving the Humanitarian Award for her decade of service to the organization. In a video captured by E! News, Hughes begins crying as he tells Siwa, “You should be very proud,” before wiping away his tears and adding, “I’m gonna be a proper mess onstage.” In response, Siwa said she was “in shock,” only to burst into laughter: “I’m sorry, I know I shouldn’t be laughing right now, but you’re so cute.”
Later in the evening, the duo made their grand debut on the red carpet, where they laid the PDA on thick. Siwa wore a sleeveless black gown accentuated with pearls, while Hughes — who apparently didn’t get the memo about coordinated couple looks — wore a brown polka-dot shirt and white disco pants that would make Elvis proud. They shared a few kisses for the paparazzi as they alternated hugging and staring into each other’s eyes. When Us Weekly asked why they’d chosen the Beverly Hills event for their big debut, Siwa said, “I mean, honestly, just kind of how the cookie crumbled,” though she did admit the appearance was a “big deal.”
“You in this wonderful, wonderful situation,” Hughes added while looking at Siwa lovingly. “The Humanitarian Award’s incredible, so to come here tonight, and kind of have a small involvement and be able to present her with the award is very special.”
As usual, the couple took the opportunity to gush about each other. Of her feelings for Hughes, Siwa said, “Anything about him, I just adore it.” She added that, thanks to Hughes, “this is the calmest I’ve felt in a really long time.”
Believe it or not, it’s been only six months since these two first got together while competing on the reality series Celebrity Big Brother U.K. in April. Both parties initially denied there was anything romantic between them, and Siwa was dating Kath Ebbs at the time (Ebbs later claimed Siwa dumped them at the CBB wrap party). At least two people in this triangle seem to have found their happily ever after. Can’t wait for the inevitable reality show about Siwa and Hughes’s life at home.
