Sydney Sweeney Got in on the Naked-Dress Trend
If you’ve been keeping up with the red carpets over the past year, you’re probably aware that one of the biggest trends among Hollywood’s leading ladies has been wearing, well … almost nothing at all. Sheer, sparse gowns — also known as naked dresses — have become all but ubiquitous, and now Sydney Sweeney has hopped onboard. On Wednesday, the actor showed up to Variety’s Power of Women event in Los Angeles wearing a sheer silver gown designed by Christian Cowan. What goes better with a fresh new bob?
Sweeney, whose appearances have become a lightning rod for cultural commentary in the past few years, recently told Variety that “when people think, Ah, she’s a sex symbol or She’s leaning into that, I’m like, ‘No, I just feel good and I’m doing it for myself and I feel strong.’ And I hope that I can inspire other women to be confident and just flaunt what they got and feel good, because you shouldn’t have to apologize or hide or cover up in any room.”
So for anyone itching to be weird about this, let’s bear in mind that this is simply a woman with a new haircut wearing a fun dress. Okay? Okay.
