Finally, Footage From Inside Taylor Swift’s Cleaning Cart

We’re finally about to get some insight into exactly how Taylor Swift pulled off her record-breaking Eras Tour. On Thursday, Disney released a new trailer for “The End of an Era,” a six-episode docuseries taking fans behind the scenes of the world tour. There’s quite a bit going on: Rehearsal footage, a Sabrina Carpenter cameo, and Travis Kelce referring to his fiancé “Tay-Tay.” But you know what I’m most excited to see? The big, black janitor’s cart the pop star used to sneak through the crowd each night.

At the beginning of the trailer, we see someone pushing a huge cleaning cart up a ramp towards the stage — but it’s not just any cart filled with mops and brooms, of course. The camera then switches to inside the contraption, revealing that the pop star is hidden away inside, rolling towards the stage so she can begin her three-hour show. For the biggest pop star in the world, you’d think she’d have a swankier set up. Hey, at least it’s better than a suitcase.

Although this is giving fans a pretty intimate look behind the curtain, it’s not exactly a big reveal. Swifties have known about her preferred mode of transportation for years now, and there are plenty of TikTok videos of the big black janitor’s cart to prove it. It’s usually seen being wheeled up the ramp as Lady Gaga’s “Applause” plays, which happens to be the last song on the Eras tour pre-show playlist. After the concert ends, Swift exits off the same ramp the cart was wheeled up, indicating that it’s the only way to get on or off the stage. Last December, she confirmed the cleaning carriage rumors by posting a photo of herself perched inside of it on Instagram.

Swift, apparently, has a good reason for shoving herself into a little cart. She spoke about it during her debut episode of New Heights, her fiancé’s podcast, saying it was all her “weird idea.” “I didn’t want [the fans] to see my first outfit and my first look, which would have given away what the first era was before. When I’m walking up the ramp behind the stage, there’s all these fans seated behind the stage at certain angles where they would have been able to film it,” she said. “I didn’t want that to be the first thing people saw from the Eras Tour.” Fair!

I, for one, can’t wait to see more of the inside of this cramped wagon. Is there a photo of Kelce taped to the wall? What about a mirror? Does she bring her phone in there with her? We may just find out the answers to these questions on December 12, when the series begins streaming on Disney+.
