John Waters Officiated Johnny Knoxville’s Wedding
Having an actual man of the cloth preside over your wedding has been out for some time now. Instead, it seems like every couple just asks their most charming and outgoing friend to get ordained online and perform the ceremony. For most of us, that means a friend from college; for Johnny Knoxville, it means John Waters.
On Sunday, the Jackass star married his longtime girlfriend, costume designer Emily Ting. “I’m the luckiest and happiest fella in the universe,” Knoxville wrote on Instagram. “It was a small ceremony with family, friends, and THE best minister ever.” Sure enough, in the second slide of Knoxville’s carousel, he and Ting are posing with the 79-year-old director. Everyone in the photo is grinning ear to ear, including Knoxville’s dog, Bucket.
“Thank you John Waters we love you so,” Knoxville wrote.
How do these two know each other? Well, obviously, the shocking, dangerous, and homoerotic nature of Jackass really appeals to Waters. He once called those movies “the closest in spirit to Pink Flamingos,” his own shocking film. Waters cast Knoxville in his 2004 movie A Dirty Shame and made a cameo in Jackass Number Two. In short, these guys are longtime pals.
