Journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have already reached out to seek information about Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke’s availability ahead of next summer.
Solanke failed to find the back of the net at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Friday but the centre-forward certainly proved a handful for the Spurs defence, demonstrating just why Ange Postecoglou’s men are allegedly keen on him.
It was reported by The Sun last week that the striker, who has 12 Premier League goals to his name so far this season, has admirers at the North London side, with some at Hotspur Way convinced that he can shine at a higher level.
In fact, the outlet alleged that Spurs see the England international as someone who is capable of filling the void left by Harry Kane.
Jacobs confirms Tottenham’s Solanke interest
Jacobs has now said that Postecoglou is keen on adding a number nine to his squad during next summer’s transfer window, naming Solanke and Ivan Toney as two potential options for Spurs.
In fact, the journalist asserted that Tottenham have already inquired about the Bournemouth striker’s availability.
He said on the Last Word on Spurs podcast: “When you get to the summer, it might be if they’ve succeeded in that [signing a centre-back], then the priorities change.
“But I think the summer will be a bit more specific, I think they will want a Dominic Solanke-type profile, or they want to enter the race for an Ivan Toney should he become available. But I’m not saying they are concrete Spurs targets, although Solanke has certainly been inquired about.”
Spurs Web Opinion
While Tottenham’s recruitment team would be tracking several strikers, it is too early to predict who the club’s top targets will be for next summer. A lot can change over the next few months, both in terms of Spurs’ needs and the form of the likes of Solanke, Toney and Gimenez.
