According to Mark Lawrenson, Tottenham Hotspur can take the game to Manchester United this weekend and come away with a win, in a game which should be plenty entertaining.
Tottenham travel to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon for a game which could have a big impact on the race for European football this season. Ange Postecoglou‘s side would push their way into the top four with a win this weekend.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently in eighth place in the Premier League, and desperately need three points to stay within touching distance of the race at the top of the table. Even if they do win, they would still be five points off Spurs‘ points tally.
Tottenham are on a run of two straight wins in all competitions, and have lost just once in the last six games. United fell to defeat to Nottingham Forest last time out in the league, but did just beat Wigan in the FA Cup.
Mark Lawrenson thinks Spurs can beat United
Speaking to Paddy Power about the upcoming fixtures in the Premier League, Mark Lawrenson has backed Spurs to leave Old Trafford with all three points, and suggested both sides will have their fair share of chances.
He said: “Manchester United strolled past Wigan as they should do. You can sit here and talk about Manchester United all day but you just don’t know what team’s going to turn up.
“I’m going to go for Spurs to win this. They won’t change the way they play and they’ll be a bit open which will obviously help United but they create lots and lots of chances. Manchester United 1-2 Tottenham.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I would love to see us take a win on Sunday, and it would be a huge signal of intent for the rest of the season to come away from Old Trafford with the three points. I am leaning more towards a score draw myself, but if any team is winning, it’s Spurs.
