Even though Tanguy Ndombele has been out injured over the last few weeks, the Turkish press continues to criticise the decision-makers at Galatasaray for signing the midfielder.
Many would have seen Ndombele’s move to Galatasaray as the final roll of the dice for the midfielder to get his floundering career back on track.
However, the 27-year-old has struggled to make any sort of impact in the Turkish capital and has looked completely off the pace when opportunities have come his way.
Ndombele has been injured since the middle of February and in that time Galatasaray have been knocked out of the Europa League and the Turkish Cup, with the latter being courtesy of a 2-0 loss to Fatih Karagumruk last week.

Ndombele continues to receive criticism
Okan Buruk’s men followed that up with another loss in the derby against Besiktas on Sunday and even though the on-loan Tottenham man was not involved, he did not escape criticism.
Yenicag Gazetesi journalist Sedat Kaya has now written (via Sport Witness): “Was this squad built for the Süper Lig? In those days, those who criticised Erden Timur’s transfer moves were declared traitors. They have been vindicated today. Galatasaray threw in the towel in three cups in one month.
“Most of those who were praised when they signed are now missing. What happened to Ziyech? Where is Ndombele? Tetê is here and gone. Zaha is a constant problem. How many millions of dollars is the loss? Now we have to ask. Is this magic? Hocus pocus, we’re out of three cups!”
A similar sentiment was echoed by commentator, Erman Toroglu, who was critical of Galatasaray’s decision to sign Ndombele.
He told A Spor (as relayed by Yenicag Gazetesi): “Ndombele, Ziyech are nowhere to be seen, how did you transfer them? What about the money? What’s the point of being champion in Turkey after paying that kind of money? This squad was built for the Champions League, not the Süper Lig.”
Spurs Web Opinion
If it was not clear already that Galatasary were not going to take up the option to sign Ndombele permanently or even consider extending his loan, it now is. Tottenham will likely have to take a big loss on the Frenchman in order to offload him permanently in the summer.
