Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd has spoken highly of the impact that Cameron Carter-Vickers has made at Celtic, comparing his influence on the side to that of Virgil van Dijk.
Carter-Vickers was seen by many at Spurs as an extremely promising talent while making his way through the age group ranks of the club’s academy.
Former boss Mauricio Pochettino even suggested back in 2017 that the centre-back had the potential to become ‘the best defender in England’ (Football.London).
However, the USA International struggled to break into the Tottenham first team, making a total of just five senior appearances for the North London club (Transfermarkt).
Following a successful loan stint at Celtic during the 2021-22 season, the Scottish giants took the option to buy Carter-Vickers permanently for £6m 18 months ago.

Carter-Vickers has a similar style to Virgil Van Dijk
The 26-year-old has been impressive at Parkhead, playing a crucial role in the Bhoys’ historic treble win last season under Ange Postecoglou.
Boyd has now showered praise on the Spurs academy graduate, suggesting that he is as important to Celtic as Van Dijk is to Liverpool.
When asked about the former Tottenham man’s impact, the pundit told Sky Sports News (1:10 pm, March 2, 2024): “It’s huge. You speak of Van Dijk and the way that he allows Liverpool to play, Carter-Vickers is exact same in the way he allows Celtic to play higher up the pitch. Because of the pace he has got, he covers the ground so quickly.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Most Spurs fans would be delighted to see the way Carter-Vickers is doing at Glasgow, with the centre-back emerging as one of the leaders of the Celtic backline.
If he maintains the same standard of performance, sides at the top end of the Championship and bottom end of the Premier League may be willing to take a punt on the 26-year-old.
