Daniel Levy ‘delighted’ after Tottenham receive ‘best in England’ award
An analysis of clubs across England by Fair Game found Tottenham Hotspur to be the best-run club across the country, The Guardian have revealed.
Tottenham named best-run club in England
Fair Game is a group that champions better governance and sustainability within the game and they work with 34 EFL and non-league clubs on the same.
They have now come up with the Fair Game Index, which analyses data from clubs across the top seven divisions in English football and gives them a score out of 100, based on financial sustainability, good governance, fan engagement and equality standards.
It is revealed that Spurs came out on top on the Fair Game Index, with a score of 68.2 out of 100 while Manchester United came in at second place with a score of 65.4.
There were a total of five Premier League clubs in the top 10 list, with Brentford, Liverpool and Fulham being the other three to make the cut.
Daniel Levy is proud of Tottenham achievement
Daniel Levy admitted his delight at the result, remarking that sustainability and good governance are something that Spurs have always taken pride in.
The Tottenham chairman told The Guardian: “As a club that prides itself on good governance – with a key focus on sustainability, fan engagement and delivering for our local communities – we are delighted to have been recognised as England’s best-run club by the Fair Game Index.
“This ranking further demonstrates the huge strides that are being made off the pitch, with our world-class stadium and innovative partnerships enabling sustainable, recurring investment into our football operations to ensure we remain competitive on the pitch and challenge for major honours.
“We welcome Fair Game’s work in highlighting the important role we can all play in operating sustainably to ensure our clubs remain at the heart of our local communities and for fans to enjoy for many generations to come.”

Some fans will scoff at this and suggest that the only thing that counts is trophies. I think Tottenham have done outstandingly to remain one of the most competitive clubs in the country over the past decade and a half while operating sustainably.
The likes of Liverpool have shown that it is possible to be successful by operating in this manner and that is something that Levy and co will be keen to replicate, with the Lilywhites hoping that Ange can be their Jurgen Klopp.
