Yang Min-hyeok seen as a generational talent in Korea
Yang surpassed all expectations in his first season of professional football, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists across all competitions for Gangwon FC in 2024.
The winger won the Young Player of the Year award, becoming only the second player in K League history to win the prize during his debut season, following Kim Min-jae in 2017.
The youngster was also nominated for the MVP award and has made it into the K-League Team of the Season.
Yang reveals what he brings to Spurs
The 18-year-old identified his agility and his acceleration as the two biggest assets that he brings to a Tottenham side.
He said ahead of boarding his flight to London (via Joel Kim): “I consider myself a bit smaller and more agile, so I feel confident in my quick bursts of speed.”
The wide-man revealed that his parents will soon join him in London and explained that he expects to get his Visa within a week.
He said: “Initially, I’ll be adjusting with the help of my agent, and once I settle in, my parents plan to come over to live with me. My visa hasn’t been issued yet, so it might take about a week to sort out those matters.”
When asked about his shirt number at Spurs, Yang said: “Regarding jersey numbers, I initially wanted 47, but I was informed that it’s already taken. I’ll decide on a new number once I arrive.”
Yang’s first days at Spurs
The South Korean explains what is in store for him the moment he lands in England and makes his way to Hotspur Way for the first time.
The teenager remarked: “I’ll be going straight to a dinner event at Tottenham once I arrive. As for who will attend the dinner, I’m not sure yet.”
The Tottenham newcomer is not aware of what the North London club’s plan is for him in the first few weeks. When asked if he will start training with the team right away, Yang said: “There are still parts we haven’t finished discussing, so I believe we’ll talk more and proceed once I get there.”
