Highly rated Tottenham midfielder, Jamie Donley, who is out on loan has finally got off the mark in front of goal for the season with an important strike for Leyton Orient.

Jamie Donley has not hit the heights away from Tottenham

Jamie Donley is considered to be one of the best young talents currently in the Tottenham academy, with the youngster being one of the standout players across Premier League 2 last season.

However, his loan spell at Orient has not quite gone according to plan so far for the 19-year-old, who has started less than half of their league games so far (Transfermarkt).

The youngster faced a further complication over recent months as the O’s are currently over the limit for the number of loan players allowed, which means that he has had to miss out on a place in the matchday squad on a few occasions.

Jamie Donley nets an important goal

However, over recent weeks, the versatile attacking has been able to force himself back into the plans of manager Richie Wellens.

He has now made a valuable contribution that would go someway towards sealing his spot in the starting eleven over the coming weeks.

Donley started as a number ten in the League One match away at Barnsley on Saturday and the Tottenham academy man opened the scoring for the away side with a sixth-minute strike.

This is not just the attacking midfielder’s first goal for Orient but also the first professional goal of his career. He then went on to record another two assists for the club before the final whistle.

This goal could kickstart Donley’s season

Many Spurs fans would have expected Donely to dominate League One, given the kind of quality he has shown in his few first-team opportunities.

However, that has not materialised, with the 19-year-old taking some time to get accustomed to the physicality of the lower leagues.

This goal might be a crucial moment in kickstarting the Spurs men’s season, with the midfielder hopefully taking confidence from this strike and playing with more freedom over the coming months.
