After completing a deal to join the Lilywhites, Antonin Kinsky has now opened up about his move to Tottenham and how he plans to make his mark at the club. The 21-year-old’s transfer from Slavia Prague marks a new chapter for both the player and Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Antonin Kinsky’s journey to Tottenham Hotspur

Antonin Kinsky, a promising 21-year-old goalkeeper, has joined Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth £12.5 million, signing a contract that will keep him in N17 until 2031.

The Czech international has been handed the No.31 shirt and could make his debut in one of the upcoming fixtures, with cup games against Liverpool and Tamworth on the horizon.

The signing comes at a critical time for Tottenham, with Guglielmo Vicario sidelined due to injury and Fraser Forster, the club’s experienced stand-in, also absent in recent weeks

The 21-year-old’s arrival bolsters Ange Postecoglou’s goalkeeping options, with the young shot-stopper expected to challenge Vicario for the No.1 spot in the long term.

Kinsky’s reflections on joining Tottenham

Speaking in his first interview since signing, Antonin Kinsky expressed his excitement about joining Tottenham and the significance of the move for his career.

He said on SPURSPLAY: “I’m really happy to be here, it has been amazing to sign the contract, Tottenham is a big name in Europe and in the world, especially in the Czech Republic, and, as I say, for me it is a big honour and I’m really happy.

“I spoke with the coaches, I spoke with the sporting director and almost with everyone I really got the feeling that this is going to be the right choice.

“It’s a new experience and I’m really happy to make that first step outside of the country, so I’m really happy, really excited and looking forward to training and hopefully the games as this is the aim of every player to be on the pitch.

“What I’m going to do is try to push in training to get the minutes. I would say I’m a guy who loves football, who loves to play the game.

“I have been playing in the Czech Republic so far, for the last time with Slavia where I’ve had a good half of the season, then this offer came, and, as I said, I felt this is going to be a good decision so I decided to go and I’m really happy.”

A legacy of goalkeeping and Kinsky’s future at Spurs

Kinsky’s style of play is already generating intrigue, as the young goalkeeper revealed his approach to the game during his interview.

He continued: “I like to play a lot with my feet and the rest I would say shows when I will be on the pitch.”

These traits align with the modern demands of goalkeepers, particularly under a manager like Ange Postecoglou, who values ball-playing ability in every position.

Football runs in Kinsky’s family, as his father, Antonin Kinsky Sr., was a professional goalkeeper who earned five caps for the Czech Republic and served as Petr Cech’s understudy at Euro 2004 and the 2006 World Cup.

Tottenham’s new signing Antonin Kinsky Jr. explained: “He played for the Czech national team, in the Czech league and abroad as well, so he has been a big role model for me since the beginning.

“Every decision I make I talk about it with him and he told me of course that this is a big thing, big decision and big chance. He told me to go for this as well so I am really happy to have this opinion.”

Whether he can fulfil the high expectations placed upon him remains to be seen, but the 21-year-old’s confidence, familial support, and dedication offer a promising foundation for his success in north London.
