Spurs insider reveals Ange Postecoglou welcomed three players into training ahead of Liverpool cup tie
Ange Postecoglou has been handed a boost ahead of his side’s Carabao Cup semi-final third leg showdown with Liverpool on Wednesday, with a three previously unavailable players trained on Monday.
Tottenham’s biggest clash of the season coming up
A top-four finish now looks beyond Tottenham this season, who are currently reeling in 12th place in the table.
The Carabao Cup has taken a huge amount of importance in N17, with a number of reports suggesting that the two legs of the semi-final against Liverpool could go a long way towards determining the Postecoglou’s future as manager of Tottenham.
A big defeat on Wednesday for Spurs, similar to the one Liverpool inflicted on them at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last month, could potentially be a point of no return for the current project underway in North London.
Ange Postecoglou welcomes three new faces to training
Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe, who is often one of the first to break developments internally at Hotspur Way, has revealed that Postecoglou will have some new players to call upon for Wednesday’s clash.
He reports that Richarlison and Mikey Moore joined the team to train on Monday, with the former recovering from a hamstring issue and the latter from an illness.
The duo were joined in training by new signing Antonin Kinsky, who is potentially in line to start for Spurs should Fraser Forster not recover sufficiently from the bug he contracted last week.
Additionally, Rodrigo Bentancur, who was suspended for the 2-1 defeat against Newcastle, will also be back for the tie against the Arne Slot’s side.
Postecoglou will be waiting impatiently for the return of two players
Even with Richarlison and Moore back, the Tottenham first-team squad remains severely under-strength at the moment, with Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, and Wilson Odobert remaining sidelined.
The treatment tables at Hotspur Way do not look as crowded as they did a couple of weeks ago, but Postecoglou will be particularly keen to have Romero and Van de Ven back.
The Australian’s system is reliant on having pacy, aggressive centre-backs, who are good on the ball, and Spurs would undoubtedly be a transformed side with their first-choice centre-back pairing.
