One experienced Premier League star is being widely backed to leave his club this month, and it has now been revealed that Tottenham have been fans of him for a long time.

Marcus Rashford’s Man Utd career seems to be on the verge of ending after the forward has found himself struggling to get a look in under new boss Ruben Amorim.
The 27-year-old has even been left out of the matchday squad on a few occasions and some reports indicate that the Portuguese coach has been unimpressed by the forward’s professionalism and application in training.
It has been widely claimed that the England star has already informed his teammates and others at Old Trafford that he wants to leave his boyhood side.
Spurs have been historic admirers of Marcus Rashford
Over the last month, it has been claimed by a number of outlets that Tottenham are one of the clubs who have shown an interest in offering Rashford a route out of Manchester.
However, other sources have pointed out that the Man Utd man’s £325,000-a-week contract will be a major stumbling block in Spurs‘ pursuit.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has now explained that Tottenham have indeed held ‘historic interest’ in the wantaway forward.
When asked about Rashford’s future, he told mufcMBP YouTube channel: “My understanding is that Manchester United are not in the mix for Nkunku, PSG may be and Luis Enrique may prefer that kind of profile to Marcus Rashford.
“Of course, we hear links with Arsenal with Raheem Sterling injured, and Tottenham who did have a historical interest in Rashford, but, at the moment, there has been no approach, nothing advanced from either of those clubs.”
Spurs can only sign Rashford under one condition
The only way Tottenham would be able to sign Rashford is if the Man Utd man agrees to take a significant wage cut.
Spurs are not going to make the 27-year-old their highest earner as that would create big tensions in the dressing room, particularly at a time when the club are potentially looking to tie down the likes of Heung-min Son and Cristian Romero to new long-term contracts.
