What are the main reasons for Tottenham’s struggles?

It does seem like the Spurs fan base broadly falls into two main camps at the moment: ones who believe that Ange Postecoglou is primarily responsible for the team’s struggles this season, and others who believe Daniel Levy is to blame for not backing the Australian with the signings he needed.

While there is undoubtedly some overlap between the two camps, the fan base still appears split on whether Postecoglou deserves time to turn things around.

Some are sympathetic to the injury situation the Spurs boss has been dealing with, while others feel that his approach is not one that can yield consistent results in the Premier League.

Former Tottenham CEO calls on the club to make a big decision

While many of the fans may be continuing to direct their ire at Levy, Claude Littner, who worked as Spurs’ CEO during the Alan Sugar era, believes that the time has come for a managerial change.

Littner believes that the primary responsibility for Tottenham’s struggles falls on Postecoglou’s management, suggesting that the Australian does not proactively fix the clear flaws that the side has.

Here is what the former Spurs CEO posted on social media following the club’s loss to Newcastle:

‘I know fabs will not agree, but the primary responsibility lies with the Manager and his management. No idea how to defend corners, no tactical awareness. Ange stands still, just shaking his head instead of inspiring, engaging and motivating.’

Ange Postecoglou could face the sack if things don’t change

No matter how many reports emerge suggesting that Postecoglou‘s position is safe for now, there is no doubt that Levy and co would have already considered their options and might have even formulated a shortlist to replace the 59-year-old.

While there is no doubt that the Spurs boss’ hands have been tied due to injuries over recent months, football is a results-based business, and the club will not stand and watch as we further down the table.

If Tottenham suffer a comprehensive defeat against Liverpool on Wednesday, which would effectively knock them out of the Carabao Cup, it might be curtains for Postecoglou.
