Simon Jordan reveals interesting thing he has heard about Heung-min Son
Simon Jordan reveals that there might be one big reason behind Heung-min Son’s significant drop-off this season at Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham make big decision on Heung-min Son’s contract
Over the last few weeks, there was a growing amount of speculation suggesting that a few clubs were eyeing signing Son on a free transfer at the end of the season.
However, Tottenham have ended those rumours by confirming on Tuesday that they had activated the option to extend their captain’s contract until 2026.
This development comes at a time when the 32-year-old continues to struggle for form, having looked a shadow of himself so far this season.
Simon Jordan reveals what he has heard about Son
Simon Jordan has admitted that the Tottenham forward has been well short of his best this season, insisting that he has looked like a ‘bit part’ player rather than one of the club’s biggest stars.
The former Crystal Palace owner suggested that Son‘s drop-off might be down to the player not being 100 per cent, pointing out that he had surgery last season.
Jordan told talkSPORT about the Tottenham star: “Well I wonder if he’s fit. I mean, I’ve understood through various channels, not Daniel [Levy, chairman] by the way, that he had surgery last year.
“So some of the things that I was looking at in a couple of games that I’ve been to watch Spurs this season and I’m thinking, ‘He’s a mile off’. He doesn’t look like the same player that’s captured all the attention, at one point last season was the leader replacing Harry Kane. He looks like a bit part.
“It might be because he’s not 100 per cent fit, so I was questioning the idea of whether Son had run his course, and whether it was time for Tottenham to change up. Evidently not.”
Heung-min Son is not guaranteed to stay next season
Spurs’ decision to extend Son’s contract should not be taken as a guarantee that the forward will be at the club next season.
The club were merely protecting their asset and ensuring that he could not walk away for free at the end of this campaign.
If Tottenham really wanted to hang onto him and were convinced that he is part of their plans for the future, they would offer him a long-term deal over the coming months.
