Man United are trying to beat Tottenham to Randal Kolo Muani
Tottenham’s pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani gets even more complicated than it was previously, with a Premier League rival also taking big steps towards landing the striker.
It seemed like a two-horse race for Randal Kolo Muani
Around 48 hours ago, it looked like Tottenham had a clear advantage over others in the race for Kolo Muani as it was widely reported that Spurs were hopeful of finalising the transfer in a matter of days.
However, earlier on Friday, it was claimed in the Italian press that the Frenchman had said ‘yes’ to joining Juventus and that the Old Lady were set to hammer out an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain.
It seemed like the race for Kolo Muani was shaping into a two-horse race between Spurs and Juve, but now another Premier League club have inserted themselves right in the thick of the contest.
Man United doing ‘everything possible’ to sign PSG star
This update comes from Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who says that Manchester United have now become the latest club to make ‘concrete steps’ towards the PSG striker.
The Red Devils are said to be determined ‘to do everything possible’ to take Kolo Muani to Old Trafford.
United have reportedly held ‘very specific talks’ with the 26-year-old’s entourage and are now ready to hold direct negotiations with the Ligue 1 giants.
Plettenberg adds that Ruben Amorim’s men are looking to sign Kolo Muani on loan with an option to buy, and names Tottenham, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Juventus and AC Milan as the other clubs vying for the forward’s signature.
Competition for Randal Kolo Muani was always going to be intense
Kolo Muani is undoubtedly one of the biggest names on the shop window this January and given that he appears to be available on loan, there were always going to be a flurry of clubs vying for his signature.
Based on the various updates over recent days, it sounds like Spurs, Man Utd and Juve have all reached an agreement with the striker (or are close to doing so), but the difficult part would be to find an agreement with PSG.
Tottenham may hold an advantage in this respect as neither Man Utd nor Juve are in a strong financial position at the moment and may not be able to commit to a sizable obligation to buy.
