For some reason, Luiz‘s move to Juventus has not worked out, with the midfielder failing to settle into his new surroundings, and struggling to get into Thiago Motta’s starting eleven.
It has been reported over the last week that the Bianconeri are willing to part ways with Douglas Luiz, who has been offered to Tottenham.
Other Italian outlets have suggested that Spurs continue to hold an interest in the 26-year-old, but the Lilywhites are yet to make a concrete move for him.
Luiz’s stance revealed amid Spurs and Fulham links
Other sources over recent days have revealed that Fulham have already taken steps to bring the Brazilian back to England, having spoken to his agent over recent days regarding a transfer to Craven Cottage.
Now, journalist Eduardo Burgos has confirmed that Spurs and the Cottagers are the two clubs who have shown interest in the Juve man.
However, he claimed that the midfielder has no intention of leaving the Allianz Stadium through the back door and wants to succeed with the Serie A giants.
Burgos said on X: “Despite informal inquiries, Douglas Luiz has a good chance of staying at Juventus in January. The player does not want a change of scenery at the moment.
“He is comfortable in Turin and wants to succeed in the team. Tottenham and Fulham are the ones pushing hardest for his loan.”
Will Tottenham push ahead with an offer for Douglas Luiz?
Based on reports over the last couple of weeks, it does not appear as if a number six is one of Postecoglou‘s priorities this month. However, the situation could change quickly if Rodrigo Bentancur or Yves Bissouma picked up an injury.
In that case, Luiz, in many respects, might be the ideal stop-gap solution until the end of the season, particularly if Juve are willing to loan him out.
Tottenham have a good relationship with the Bianconeri, particularly through Fabio Paratici, and may fancy their chances of finalising an agreement.
