Antonin Kinsky announces himself on the big stage

While plenty of Spurs fans would have seen YouTube compilations of Kinsky in the days prior to the clash against Liverpool, many would have been nervous to see the 21-year-old go straight into the starting lineup.

It is never easy for a young player to be thrown into a semifinal at a jampacked stadium, just three days after arriving at the club.

However, the Kinsky announced himself to the home fans in style, not only showing his exceptional skill but also looking completely unfazed by the occasion.

While it is still early days for the youngster at N17, it felt like the start of what could be a special career at Spurs for the goalkeeper.

Petr Cech reveals Chelsea had their eye on Kinsky

Chelsea legend Cech has now revealed that the Blues had their eye on the young goalkeeper as far back as five years ago. The 42-year-old claimed that he personally scouted his countryman when he was the technical director at Stamford Bridge.

He told The Telegraph: “I remember the moment when Antonín Kinsky was still playing for the national team at under-16. A game when we watched him and when we scouted him for our own club [Chelsea].

“You could see that he was strong, with his legs, you could see that he had a good starting position and he was actually helping the team at the back to launch attacks.”

Cech acknowledged that comparisons with him are inevitable but backed Tottenham’s newest addition to write his own unique story in London.

He added: “Of course, he comes from Czechia and that comparison will always be there. But I think it’s important that he makes his own way. Radek Cerny already made a good impression at Tottenham.”

Cech believes Kinsky is in the right environment

Cech could not help but aim a funny dig at Chelsea’s fierce rivals, but he acknowledged that Kinsky has all the things he needs at N17 to fulfil his potential.

When asked if the former Slavia Prague man is in the right environment to succeed, the former Blues man responded: “I always went there [Tottenham] just for the game at the stadium and we always won and went back home [smiling]. So it was always nice and all that.

“But I have to say that the important thing here is that the facilities are great, whether it’s the training centre or whether it’s the stadium and I think that’s where you spend most of your time, so this is important.”
