Tottenham handed injury boost ahead of North London derby showdown
As Tottenham Hotspur prepare for their clash against Arsenal, the Lilywhites have been handed a significant injury boost, with two key players poised to make their returns just in time for the North London derby.
A high-stakes encounter North London derby
Wednesday’s game in the Premier League is as big as it gets for Tottenham as they prepare to lock horns with their fiercest rivals Arsenal.
Tottenham come into the match on the back of an encouraging cup run, having defeated Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and Tamworth in the FA Cup. However, their league form remains a concern, with no wins in their last four outings.
Arsenal, in contrast, are also experiencing their share of struggles, with a three-game winless streak across all competitions.
The Gunners were held to a draw by Brighton in the Premier League, followed by consecutive defeats to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup and Manchester United in the FA Cup.
Additionally, Tottenham’s injury-ravaged squad has received a timely boost as an injured duo is set to make a return.
Tottenham injury boost: Richarlison and Ben Davies
In what is undoubtedly welcome news for Tottenham supporters, both Richarlison and Ben Davies are expected to be in contention for the North London derby.
Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe provided the update on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “Richarlison on track to be included in the squad for the North London Derby. Ben Davies close but not certain.”
What this means for Tottenham
The timing of Richarlison’s return aligns perfectly with Ange Postecoglou’s earlier comments regarding the player’s recovery. The Tottenham manager confirmed that the forward had rejoined group training and was on track to feature in Wednesday’s derby.
Ben Davies’ return is equally significant, as Tottenham really need extra defensive depth as both Romero and van de Ven remained sidelined.
Although neither Richarlison nor Davies is likely to start, their potential availability strengthens Tottenham’s squad depth at a pivotal time.
