Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of their long-term target might have just become a lot more complicated as it has now emerged that Manchester City are becoming increasingly more likely to enter the transfer race.

For some strange reason, Douglas Luiz has struggled to live up to his billing since his switch to Juventus last summer and finds himself struggling to force himself into the side.
It was reported earlier this week that the Bianconeri are ready to offload the 26-year-old and have offered the player to Tottenham since the Lilywhites are known admirers of the midfielder.
However, Spurs are not the only ones who are interested in the Brazilian, with Fulham said to have already made a concrete move to take the player to Craven Cottage.
Man City now likely to enter the race for Douglas Luiz
A report in GiveMeSport has now claimed that Man City are becoming ‘more likely’ to make a move for Luiz, who came through their academy.
Pep Guardiola’s men are thought to be on the lookout for reinforcements in midfield and have identified several targets. It is revealed that Luiz is currently seen as a backup option should they fail to get their top targets.
However, the chances of the Premier League champions making a move for the former Aston Villa man are said to be ‘rising’ by the day.
The outlet asserts that City are looking to sign the Juve man on loan with an option to make it permanent in the summer.
Juventus’s stance on Douglas Luiz
Interestingly, GiveMeSport says that Juve have not made a final decision on Luiz’s future, with his suitors still waiting to find out what the Serie A club would do.
In fact, at this stage, it is said that Thiago Motta’s men would prefer to offload Nicolo Fagioli instead of the Brazilian.
This might have big consequences for Spurs, with a number of publications installing Tottenham as the frontrunners to sign Fagioli over recent weeks.
