Tottenham takeover: Multiple groups have done ‘due diligence’ on Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly of interest to a number of consortiums around the world, with some of them even exploring a potential full takeover of the club.
Tottenham takeover: Levy looking for minority investment
Tottenham are currently trying to find investors to buy a minority stake in the club, with Daniel Levy himself confirming that the club needs a larger capital base to invest in the first-team and other projects.
A number of outlets reported earlier this season that former Newcastle co-owner Amanda Staveley, backed by ‘serious money’ from Middle Eastern investors, is now stepping up talks to invest in Tottenham.
However, that story has gone a bit cold over the last couple of months and it is unclear what the state of those talks are.
Different groups have shown interest in Tottenham
TBR Football have now revealed that it has been an open secret in the football finance industry that Spurs have been on the market for a while.
In fact, the outlet claims that at least three different groups in the private equity sphere have conducted ‘due diligence’, not just on a minority investment, but regarding the possibility of a full takeover.
However, the report makes it clear that a sale might be far from imminent as that will depend on someone meeting ENIC’s exit value, which stands at £3.75 billion, a number which the publication describes as ‘optimistic’.
Could Spurs be in line for a Middle Eastern takeover?
TBR Football also discusses the possibility of Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), who own Paris Saint-Germain, buying Tottenham, pointing out that they have shown interest in the past.
It is revealed that QSI president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has ‘a strong relationship’ with Daniel Levy, with the pair having met and discussed business and governance on several occasions. The report adds that even recently, Levy met with Al-Khelaifi to discuss a deal for Randal Kolo Muani.
Although Juventus have won the race for the Frenchman, the Spurs chairman‘s decision to speak directly to the PSG president is described as being ’emblematic of the excellent relations between the pair’.
