Tottenham 27-year-old tells friends he is ready to leave the club
Richarlison has reportedly become unhappy at Tottenham Hotspur and his potential future home has been revealed via alleged comments to friends.
Richarlison has never reached his potential at Tottenham
Richarlison has been under pressure to perform since day one at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Arriving from Everton for £60m, he became Tottenham’s second most expensive signing, behind only Tanguy Ndombele.
Under Antonio Conte, Richalison endured a difficult first season at Spurs. He only scored one goal in the Premier League, despite making 27 appearances.
Last season was far more encouraging for Richarlison, as he scored 11 league goals, which is only two fewer than his two strongest seasons at Everton and he also registered four assists. However, Richarlison has still failed to become a regular first-team starter and injuries have certainly not helped his cause.
Richarlison wants to leave Tottenham for the Saudi Pro League
According to Football Insider, Richarlison has become ‘fed-up’ with his second string status under Ange Postecoglou. This season he has only made eight appearances for Tottenham in all competitions.
The Brazilian, who last played for his national team in October 2023, wants to leave Spurs and sees the Saudi Pro League as his next destination. There has been a long-standing interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia in a potential transfer.
Football Insider say that he has ‘told friends’ he is ready to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
This is contrary to previous reports from Sky Sports which insisted Richarlison had no desire to leave Tottenham during the January transfer window.
Tottenham will need to sign another striker if Richarlison leaves
Other than the Brazilian, Dominic Solanke and Will Lankshear are Tottenham’s only centre-forward options and the latter player could leave Spurs on loan during the current transfer window.
Spurs opted not to sign Randal Kolo Muani, a player they were heavily linked with. Though if Richarlison does leave, they will have little choice but to invest in a new striker, or else they risk decreasing their squad depth even more.
