Spurs could turn to nine-goal striker after Jonathan David development
After hearing back from Jonathan David about a potential January switch to N17, Spurs may be about to turn their attention to a fellow Ligue 1 striker.
Jonathan David is now Spurs’ top target
After missing out on Randal Kolo Muani, a lot of Spurs fans would have been left wondering over the last few days which forward the club would now turn their attention to.
A new report from TEAMtalk has said that Lille star Jonathan David has now become Spurs’ ‘number one choice’, but there is one problem.
The Canada international is reportedly indicating that he does not want to make a move this month and would prefer to make a decision as a free agent at the end of the campaign.
Tottenham move to Plan C
After missing out on Kolo Muani, and finding out about David’s reluctance over a January move, TEAMtalk say that Spurs have now turned their attention to another alternative.
The player they are now eying is Nice forward Evann Guessand, who has allegedly impressed the North London club’s scouts a lot this season.
Like Kolo Muani, although the 23-year-old is most comfortable as a centre-forward, he can operate on either flank, which is why he is an attractive choice for Ange Postecoglou‘s side.
The Ivory Coast international, who has scored nine goals and laid on five assists this season, is thought to be valued by Nice at £20m, thus making the forward an affordable option for Tottenham.
Is this transfer pivot due to a lack of faith in Postecoglou?
It would be a little bizarre to see Tottenham go from pursuing a big-money deal for Kolo Muani to settling for a cheap bargain in Guessand.
Perhaps such a transfer pivot is a sign of the hierarchy’s dwindling trust in Postecoglou, whose future at the club seems far from assured.
The club would be wary of backing the Australian with big-money signings if they are not sure he is going to be here beyond the end of this season.
