Spurs speak to striker’s agents but AC Milan are winning the race

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly held talks with a striker who has found the back of the net 15 times this season, but it is AC Milan who have now moved into pole position to sign the player.

Which striker will Spurs turn their attention to next?

Tottenham failed to get a deal for Randal Kolo Muani over the line, with the Frenchman choosing a loan move to Juventus instead.

Reports indicate that Spurs are continuing to prioritise signing a forward, although it is unclear who the club’s top target now is.

The likes of Lille’s Jonathan David have been mooted as options, but it has now emerged that Tottenham have also turned their attention to the Eredivisie’s best marksman.

Tottenham make contact but Milan favourites to land striker

A fresh report from TBR Football has now claimed that Spurs have spoken with the representatives of Feyenoord number nine Santiago Gimenez regarding a switch to N17.

The report reveals that Tottenham’s London rivals, West Ham, have also spoken to the Mexican, with both clubs keen on adding more firepower to their forward line before the transfer window slams shut.

However, even though Spurs and the Hammers are in touch with the player’s camp, the striker ‘looks on track’ to head to the San Siro.

The Rossoneri are said to be ‘closing in on a deal’ for Gimenez and remain confident of reaching a €40m (£34m) agreement with Feyenoord for the centre-forward.

Santiago Gimenez is unlikely to be Tottenham’s top target

The one thing we know based on Spurs’ Kolo Muani pursuit is that Postecoglou wants a versatile forward who can operate across the front three.

That will give the Australian a lot more options to rotate his squad and split minutes between his key forwards.

It would not make much sense for Spurs to pay a big fee for an out-and-out number nine like Gimenez, who can only ever play instead of Solanke.
