Tottenham Hotspur could look to sign an Ajax striker on loan and the rumours are causing a stir between supporters who have differing opinions on the player.
Who is Brian Brobbey – the man linked with Spurs?
With Dominic Solanke out for up to six weeks with injury, there is a possibility that Tottenham will look to sign a new striker. According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs are interested in a potential loan deal for Ajax striker Brian Brobbey.
Brobbey is a product of Ajax’s academy, although he did have a short spell at RB Leipzig before returning to the Eredivisie giants three years ago on a loan-to-buy deal which was made permanent.
While Brobbey has made 17 league appearances [nine starts] for Ajax this season, he has scored just one goal for his side, who sit one point off top. In the Europa League he has managed a goal and three assists in six matches.
Although Brobbey’s league stats from the current campaign look to be a cause for concern, he has proven himself as a goal scorer. Last season he bagged 18 goals and eight assists in 30 appearances.

SpursWeb posted Brobbey’s stats on X and Tottenham fans have reacted with different views on whether the 22-year-old would be a good signing or not.
One supporter revealed he has watched the striker and does not believe he is good enough. He posted: “He’s clearly not good enough. I’ve watched him a couple of times and he hasn’t got the premier league quality yet. I don’t mean to be harsh but I doubt he’ll ever be.”
Another added: “Blimey we have signed players banging them in over there who have then failed for us. Now we are taking the opposite approach and hoping it might work.” ????????????
Some supporters, however, are feeling more optimistic about the potential loan signing. One fan pointed out Brobbey recorded ‘26 goals and assists in 30 games in the league last season’.
Another said: “He has cooked in the past, I think Lange is working to some very specific requirements from Ange and Brobbey probably fits that and is a cheap option for Levy because of his out of favour/poor form.”
Do Tottenham really need a new striker?
While Solanke is injured, Richarlison has returned to the Tottenham first-team squad and got himself a goal against Everton last weekend. Meanwhile, Will Lankshear is also an option for Ange Postecoglou.
Securing a striker on loan would no doubt be useful to Postecoglou, but there are other areas in the team where injuries have caused greater issues, such as the centre of defence.
With Brobbey only starting nine of Ajax’s 19 league matches this season, is he a better option than the players Spurs currently have available?
