Tottenham’s wage bill is looking even healthier this season at 42 per cent

Even though Tottenham’s revenue numbers continue to remain high, the club’s wage bill has reportedly dropped significantly over the last 12 months.

While Tottenham have not been shy about spending money on transfers over the last few years, the club have a considerably smaller wage bill than many of their rivals.

The Lilywhites are hesitant to hand out big contracts, with their highest earner being captain Heung-min Son, who has a contract worth just under £200,000 per week.

It had been widely reported that Tottenham have the lowest squad cost in the league, with just two-thirds of their revenue spent on wages and amortisation.

Tottenham wage bill sees dramatic drop

Tottenham went through a mass clear-out last summer as they trimmed a bloated squad. Unsurprisingly, it has now emerged that the club’s wage bill has reduced significantly as a result.

The Deloitte Football Money League report 2025 has now revealed that Spurs‘ wage bill has been reduced to just £220m, which is just 42 per cent of their annual revenue.

The report points out that this is particularly stark when considering the fact that Tottenham earn a higher commercial revenue than either Chelsea or Arsenal, whose wage bills remain significantly higher than the Lilywhites’.

Is this a tactic to make the club attractive to investors?

While Daniel Levy might not publicly admit this, one of the reasons for trimming the wage bill over the last 12 months might be to make the club more attractive to potential investors.

That might explain why they were so keen on getting rid of the deadwood last summer and why the club are hesitant to offer new long-term deals for the likes of Heung-min Son.
