Tottenham eye late deal as Champions League club look to shift attacker
It has emerged that Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a loan move for a Spain international, and his club, Barcelona, are desperate to offload him before the end of the transfer window.
Which forward will Spurs turn their attention to?
It is unclear which forward Tottenham have turned their attention towards after admitting defeat in the race to sign Randal Kolo Muani on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.
It emerged a little over a week ago that Tottenham were eyeing a move for Ansu Fati, who finds himself struggling for game time at Camp Nou this season.
A fresh update has now emerged suggesting that Barca would be more than happy to push through a deal if the Lilywhites came calling.
Barca want to speed up Ansu Fati’s departure
This update comes for Fichajes, who explain that Ange Postecoglou‘s men are considering a late loan move for Fati, who spent last season on loan in the Premier League at Brighton.
The outlet explains that the Spanish attacker is not in Hansi Flick’s plans, with the Barca boss having already given the green light for the 22-year-old to leave.
Additionally, it is explained that the Catalan club want to ‘speed up’ the Spain international’s departure as they wish to make room for Marcus Rashford, who they have already agreed personal terms with.
With Tottenham willing to include an option to buy in the deal and cover a significant portion of Fati’s wages, their interest is ‘viewed favourably’ by Barca.
Ansu Fati to Tottenham could prove complex
Fichajes say that the reason Barca have not found it easy to offload Fati is because there is ‘resistance’ from the player, who ‘insists on staying’ at the club despite his lack of game time.
The La Liga giants have also found it challenging to find suitors who would cover the majority of the player’s wages, which they seem to have now got with Tottenham.
The publication adds that Fati’s future remains ‘uncertain’ but his departure in the final days of the window is ‘essential’ for Barca to be able to balance their books and strengthen their squad.
