Tottenham Hotspur’s defensive crisis

Tottenham Hotspur have been managing a major injury crisis for the most part of this season. The defence has undoubtedly suffered the most setbacks, as Romero, Davies, van de Ven, Vicario and Udogie have all been sidelined during the season.

Given the extent of the injury crisis, many expected that Tottenham Hotspur would have added a few reinforcements to their squad to bolster their defensive line.

However, with exactly seven days left before the end of the transfer window, it seems rather unlikely that Spurs will be making any additions to their squad.

Instead, Spurs fans will have to watch one of their former players make a move to one of their Premier League rivals this winter window.

Juan Foyth edges closer to Aston Villa’s switch

This latest report comes from Skysports news editor Lyall Thomas, who is reporting the imminent departure of Juan Foyth from Spanish side Villarreal.

In a tweet on X, he reported: “Understand Aston Villa have made an offer for Juan Foyth and it’s being considered by Villarreal. Unai Emery admitted he was one of their targets yesterday. Been superb in Spain since leaving.”

Juan Foyth now 27, joined the Yellow Submarine four years ago from Tottenham Hotspur and has since made 81 appearances for the Spanish side – in that time period, he has bagged four goals.

Fabrizio Romano provides further updates on Juan Foyth

Lyall Thomas is not the only journalist reporting the departure of Juan Foyth this winter window.

In fact, Fabrizio Romano has also shared an update on the deal in a tweet on X, he stated: “Aston Villa are in talks to sign new defender and Juan Foyth is one of the main targets, after Badé deal off. Initial proposal already sent to Villarreal as Unai Emery knows the player well. Deal on.”
