Former Tottenham player sends scathing message to Daniel Levy
Ramon Vega’s recent remarks against Daniel Levy and the Tottenham ownership have added fuel to an already blazing fire in North London.
Growing discontent within the Tottenham Hotspur fanbase
The 2024/25 season has seen Tottenham Hotspur fans divided as results on the pitch continue to falter. For a growing number of supporters, the problem lies with the manager himself.
Critics argue that Postecoglou is not the right man to steer Tottenham back to the upper echelons of English football, believing that his tactics and decisions have failed to match the club’s lofty ambitions.
A change, they say, is urgently needed to salvage what remains of the season. However, others have shifted their frustrations towards the club’s ownership.
Daniel Levy and ENIC have faced criticism for failing to adequately support the manager in the transfer market, leaving Tottenham ill-equipped to compete with England’s elite.
For these fans, the issue is not Postecoglou’s quality as a manager but rather the lack of resources at his disposal to succeed.
Ramon Vega’s scathing remarks about the Spurs board
Amidst the turmoil, former Tottenham player Ramon Vega has added his voice to the chorus of criticism.
Vega, who played for the club during the late 1990s, expressed his thoughts on social media, delivering a damning assessment of the board’s approach to running the club.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Vega wrote: “It’s clear today that the board doesn’t have the funds to run such a club or better say to the standard the club should be.
“They did their best with infrastructure and other aspects, but they completely overlooked the most important part of the club: football! When participating in numerous competitions, it’s essential to have a large squad.
“Otherwise, you’re left with the option of remaining mid-table with a smaller, cost-effective squad while hoping to avoid relegation. The question is: where do Spurs really belong?”
Where do Tottenham Hotspur truly belong?
For the former Spurs player, the blame lies squarely at the feet of the board, whose priorities he believes have been misaligned with the demands of modern football.
Despite his remarks, it is also difficult to dismiss the frustration of those calling for Postecoglou’s departure. While injuries are a valid concern, they do not fully explain Tottenham’s alarming dip in form.
A team with ambitions of challenging for European football should not find itself languishing near the foot of the table. Neither should they be losing games to teams with far fewer resources than they have – the manager has to take responsibility for that.
Daniel Levy and ENIC may have revolutionised the club’s infrastructure, but until the same level of ambition is applied to the playing squad, Spurs fans will have to get used to more mid-table finishes in the league – that is if the club is not in the championship next season.
