Spurs stole Lucas Bergvall from under Barcelona’s noses

It was well documented that Tottenham beat out competition from Barca to land the Swede in January of last year, with the midfielder linking up with the Spurs squad last summer.

Back in May of last year, the former Djurgardens man himself admitted that he decided to join Spurs over the Catalan side as he felt the former would be a much better fit for him.

According to some reports in Spain, Barca had a verbal agreement with Bergvall before Tottenham came in and made a much more lucrative offer to the player and his agent.

Lucas Bergvall opens up on Tottenham move

A few months into the campaign, Bergvall might have been wondering if he made a mistake by joining the North London side as the youngster was struggling to get too many opportunities.

However, the 18-year-old has now seemingly adjusted to the demands of the Premier League and has been playing regularly over the last two months, and he continues to improve with each outing.

The teenager has now insisted that he has no regrets about the decision he made and opened up on the challenges of getting accustomed to Premier League football.

Bergvall told The Sun: “When I decided, I thought that Tottenham was the best club for me. It is a great club with good ambitions.

“I feel I am getting better every day. Training with all the boys and all the staff, I’m getting used to it. It’s not an easy change coming from the Swedish league. Everything is different. The running, the physical part… everything.”

Pape Sarr expects Bergvall to become one of the best

It is not just Ange Postecoglou and the Spurs fans that Bergvall is winning over but also his teammates, with Pape Sarr suggesting that the youngster has no weaknesses in the game.

The Senegal international is confident that his teammate is destined to go right to the top if he continues working hard on his game.

Sarr told The Sun: “Lucas. He is a really great player. I really love his style. He’s never under pressure when he’s on the ball. Technically, he’s fantastic. He’s bound to be one of the world’s top players. He’s got all the assets. With work, he’ll get to the very top.”
